Custom foot orthotics are covered by most major benefit plans. Coverage will vary between benefit insurers and plans.
Certified Canadian Pedorthists are recognized by major benefit insurers as orthotic dispensers.
Most plans require a prescription (Rx) from a medical professional (MD, NP, Specialist) to submit a foot orthotic claim - always contact your benefit plan for their specific requirements.
Some insurers allow direct billing or assignment of benefits for custom foot orthotics. At this time, Greenshield is the only private insurer that allows direct billing for custom foot orthotics - please contact your benefit plan for their policy on direct billing.
Jennesis Foot Orthotics will provide you with the necessary documents your insurer will need to process your claim (ie: Biomechanical/Gait analysis with casting and manufacturing details, Lab Invoice and Paid Invoice).
If you do not have private benefits, you can submit your custom foot orthotics as a “Health Care Expense” on your income tax.
Jennesis Foot Orthotics is able to bill claims directly for WSIB, Veterans Affairs, NHIB and Social Services.
